North deserves a 3 IMO. As does Swann. 6 for Anderson is a little harsh.

How does Collingwood get a 6? Scored 5, went wicketless and dropped a catch.

By miles. Probably the best bowler on show, at no stage did he start bowling long-hops regularly, and his morning spell on Saturday was probably just as good, in terms of bowling quality, as Siddle's.

And Ponting is a better batsman than Cook, but Cook had a better game didn't he?

Anything under 5 is a fail, so it's splitting hairs, and only used as a ranking, meaning he was 'less bad' than other failures given he didn't bowl absolutely horrible, despite him being ineffective.

That's pretty much how I'd score except Broad bowled really well in patches, but never bowled badly,I'd give him 6

For mine:

Watson: 5 - average knock first innings, unbeaten but average knock second innings, OK bowling, should've had a wicket in both innings. A middling sort of performance
Katich: 6 - good 50 but once again needs to learn that not converting is criminal, and got us into a really tricky situation
Ponting: 6 - horrid captaincy, unlucky first innings but an excellent second knock to get some of the wind out of England's sails.
Clarke: 2.5 - underdone/unfit, and it showed in the field and with the bat. Dropped one catch that had no right to be taken, really, and did fantastically well to catch it at all, and dropped the mother of all sitters. Gets two and a half purely on the basis that he actually fought out 50 balls, got some kind of partnership with Hussey going, which might have been the difference between two seperate braces of quick wickets and a full-blown collapse which may have been terminal.
Hussey: 9.9 - only 5 more runs and he gets 10.
North: 3.5 - useless with the bat, OK in the field and probably our best bowler second dig.
Haddin: 9 - outstanding knock. Dropped one catch but it was a somewhat meaningless one and otherwise had an outstanding day in the field. Should slap the umpires for some of the bye calls given.
Johnson: 0.5 - well, I guess he fielded some balls. Otherwise...
Doherty: 5 - kept it tight, never threatened, showed some promise with the blade.
Hilfenhaus: 3.5 - poor. Way too wide of off-stump, looked harmless once the ball got old
Siddle: 7 - bowled brilliantly first dig, bowled average second dig. Too many four balls and his length was back again.

Strauss: 7 - nothing needs to be said about the first dig but an outstanding knock second dig. Captaincy didn't dazzle anyone.
Cook: 9.9 - loses 0.1 points purely for not going on first dig.
Trott: 7.5 - excellent albeit incredibly lucky innings second dig courtesy of one Michael John Clarke, got a few runs on the board first dig but didn't look particularly flash.
Pietersen: 5 - looked a million dollars first innings then threw it away to a good nut from Siddle. Didn't get a chance to do anything else, really.
Collingwood: 3 - almost as bad a game as Clarke except he took a few catches.
Bell: 8 - excellent knock first innings.
Prior: 2 - getting a first ball duck is never a good look
Broad: 4 - ditto, bowled well in spells, had Clarke in total misery
Swann: 3 - big disappointment. Rarely threatened and gave far, far, far too many four balls
Anderson: 8 - he'll bowl worse than that and get 7 or 8 wickets in the match.
Finn: 6 - bowled decently, gifted a lot of wickets by batsmen on slog mode. Too many four-balls for my like and has to pitch it up.
