Trott moving to open?
I'd have thought so. I expect Cook to struggle and Morgan to replace him, which means they'd move Trott up to open. Not sure if that'd be a good move. Only 2 specialist openers in the squad, which isn't necessarily a good thing.

Hehe. Got a feeling this Ashes series is where we will see Hilfenhaus really breakout and become one of the best test bowlers going around.
Agreed. He has all the weapons available now - Just needs to knock them over. Really backing him this series to clean up with at least 20 wickets

Ye i expect this scenario to occur as well. So wish Trescothick where still available, Cook would have been long gone by now.

I personally think Trott opening would not be a good decision. It would also open up the number 3 problem for England again. Bell has shown he is better down the order, Morgan is not a number 3, which would probably mean KP would be moved up which seems a bit of strange move after it called to be tried for quite a long time now. My only wonder is if the England staff see something in Davies that they think he could play at the top of the order, opening or at 3.

Yes, and not without success IIRC - certainly would need Cook to fail big time IMO, but I'd be happier seeing Davies opening than Trott opening with someone else at 3.

If Swann is your leading wicket-taker, you won't retain the Ashes.
