Last time we took 16 which included 2 wicketkeepers and 5 seamers in addition to Flintoff. But I guess we were planning to play 5 bowlers all the time. So Davies may go and they might think with him (who has been opening for Surrey this year with some effect) and Trott/Bell around they can cover the openers, at least until a replacement can come out if they wanted one. They would also, rightly or wrongly, think of Wright as a semi viable option to replace a batsmen batting at 7 with Prior at 6.

Well tbh we could do a lot worse than Davies for a second reserve batsman.

According to TMS the A team/development squad will be based in Perth like last time. So a reserve opener can be stationed there, and potentially a wicket keeper too, as well as extra bowling backup. Though I think after last summer with Prior and Haddin they may well have the keeper with the main squad.

I'm worried about the lack of competitive cricket we'll get this winter ahead of India's visit next year...

Yes, I do & me neither. His height and easy action advantages tho, so some grounds for cautious optimism at least.

Not sure who else would be? I was trying to think who the five quicks were going to be... Jimmy, Broad, Finn... Shazhad and Bresnan maybe? I wish Sidebottom or someone experienced could go in with Shazhad.
