That's not fair, England only had 2 South Africans in the last match.

I suppose that near enough every single other player in both squads so far has his own individual thread. It's just so silly that it's come to Trott being called-up, I suppose, that's so outrageous.

Wessels, Rathbone, Vickerman... South Afstralia, IMHO.

Think this was meant to be a thread where people discuss and for those who have watched him bat before to share aspects regarding his technique and temperament. Very little is known about J. Trott by most people (including me) and he looks almost a certainty for the next test.

Pretty much how i see it.
Yeah that's the way I see it as well. Sidebottom has a very slim chance of playing and that depends on two conditions:

1) Flintoff playing
2) the wicket and conditions looking extremely seamer friendly.

This selection just shows how bare the cupboard is. One injury means a return to Bell and the need for an extra batsman ends up with someone that a lot of avid cricket followers know nothing about (judging by TEC's confession).

He rates him as a one-day cricketer. I don't think he has as much faith in his ability in proper cricket.

Headline if he scores well;

'Trott gives England the runs - and don't they love it'

Just because I rate a batsman doesn't mean I think he should play at every given moment in time.

FTR think he's a superb OD batsman and should've been playing from the moment he was available, and a pretty decent FC one who might be a Test prospect. But others should be ahead of him at this moment in time.

Well, Stephen Harmison has in fact been preferred... so we can put this to bed for now, at least.

Famous name, did Alberto or Harry do more than play cricket on their cricketing trips to SA?

Interesting, he would be related to Harry I presume?

The Trott boys had some mental health issues
