Because, ITBT, it's a relatively minority sport. Only true cricket connoisseurs tend to follow it.

Amazing figures for Farrell.
23.0-11-18-2 at 0.78 Don't say an economy of less than 1 too much... Interesting parallel beween the two bowling performances is that the wickets have all been shared between three out of the seven bowlers used... so far, at least. EDIT: And that wicket doesn't do any harm to her figures... EDIT 2: Haynes is having quite a debut, 1/0 to go with the 98. Last edited by Dydl; 12-07-2009 at 07:54 AM. |

Oh hell yeah, absolutely, but even so, compared to, say, tennis or hockey, the difference between men's and women's is stil vast. Fortunately, just not quite so vast as it was a little while back.

![]() They did well to get as close sa they did, some surprising performances there. Andrews bowling Marsh was the 5th dismissal of the sort of the innings, so interesting stat there. Shaping up to be a pretty good game. |

Looks like scoring quickly hasn't been easy, so It will be a challenge for Australia to set England a target. England not likely to be that enthusiastic in chasing because they only need to draw to retain the Ashes so you'd expect Australia are going to have to do all the running.

I don't see how it's going to become anything other than a minority sport if no-one shows it or reports it. I've looked high and low on the net for places showing it in London or for TV channels showing it and found nothing (but lots for the Men's), and there is also hardly anything reported about it in the press. It's rubbish! Anyway...
what's the score now?

Cricinfo has the live score, and a bulletin of every day's play, which isn't much, but is so much more than it used to be.
Should be a very interesting last day. With Rolton and Blackwell in, and actually scoring some runs this time, they have the chance to press on and set England a total to chase. And there's some quality batting after them; the likes of Sthalekar, Fields, Poulton, Haynes, Ebsary and Perry can all bat. And Rene Farrell's not bad either... Really looking forward to it. Also, congratulations to Karen Rolton for reaching 1000 Test runs as well. Just the 10th person to get there, and at an average of 58.94, so very impressive. |

Think their reasoning was that there was a chance for some quick runs, which could have turned out to be valuable. Ellyse Perry can certainly hit a ball, as shown very clearly in the televised T20 against England in 2007, so there was always that risk.
Not saying I agree with their decision though. |
