I don't mind Channel 9 because in New Zealand we always get to see out until the end of the cricket which is very good, one thing we don't get over here is The Cricket Show with Simon O'Donnell and Phil Tufnell which is a good thing I suppose.

Relatively speaking, IMO Channel Nine have been excellent this year, so I'm surprised at the criticism - they've been repeatedly willing to stay with the cricket and delay the news at the end of the day.

This test has been more awkward because of the timezone differences, and the fact that if you're on the east coast the day doesn't finish till around 9pm and they have to show the evening news at some point. Even in that scenario though, you're only missing about ten minutes of play around tea and they've regularly cancelled A Current Affair (we used to have to put up with the news and ACA both before we returned here in Melbourne).

I figure it's an Eddie Maguire innovation, 'cause although Kerry Packer would occasionally stay if something really significant was taking place, generally speaking the news and current affairs shows took more precedence.
