I was at the Oval in 1882 when the Ashes legend was created. That last day capitulation was nowhere near as bad as the one in the Second Test of this series. Spofforth bowled with real pace on an uneven wicket in a match of low scores. Only the immortal WG for England and an Afridi type slog from Massie for Australia made it an even contest between bat and ball.
