But hasn't really run through England.
So? Is there a criteria that says he has to to earn MOTS? Leading wicket taker at 17 runs a piece. Gets all the big wickets at the right times. Definitely a contender, however if Ponting goes well again here he'll certainly get it.

Batsmen always seem to stand more chance of getting the awards unless one bowler has been miles better than the others (e.g. Warne's 40 last Ashes).

Clarke hasn't run through an England side, he's pinned them down, made England batsmen look dire and clueless but his best is still only a 4-fer. Don't get me wrong, he's clearly been good for the reasons i just said, can't believe he nearly didn't even play in the series.

Clark not having a 5-fer will definetly go against him in terms of claiming MOTS, and the fact that he hasn't really run through the line-up.

That has to be a first having a Prime Minister in the commentatory box. Expect some rant from Kevin Rudd now and if he were in the country, and the same from Mr Wright...
Howard's been in the commentary box about a dozen times in the past. Nothing new about it.

True, but no 5-fer which i find interesting.
That'd be because Ponting is still treating him like the 4th best bowler. So Lee, Warne and McGrath are being favoured to clean up the tail.. and with the way the English tail have batted, they have always done so fairly quickly...

Ponting will get MOTS. Clark's been very good, but the match defining spells in three tests have come from other bowlers. McGrath in Brisbane, and Warne in Adelaide and Melbourne. McGrath took the key wickets here too.

Obviously he's been the best bowler in the series by a distance, but that's mainly down to his consistency. He's been tremendously reliable while other bowlers have done more damage from time to time.

Incidentally, McGrath and Warne now have 997 wickets between them in matches where they have both played, after their four in the first innings. Three away from another milestone.

Haha Anderson learning the hard way (if he hadn't learnt already and is just crap) that you don't bowl short to Ponting. Cracking shots

How about Panesars appealing? He's nearly worse than Warne. Lee got charged for dissent for less than that. Panesar always charges down the pitch as if he has the wicket before the umpire even decides.

I think Warne has been lucky on occasion to not get done for it, especially considering what Lee had to pay up for.

What's it matter if the keeper goes for the stumping for a second before appealing for a catch? That's just instincts. Gun decision from Bowden though. Panesar shouldn't get anything for the appeal but if you're after consistency he'll be hanged because Lee's fine was ridiculous.

I'm sick of people saying how good England's tactics were to get Hayden about how he's poor at the shot and it was a good piece of bowling. There's nothing wrong with Hayden's cut, it was a loose ball and he was just late on it.

Run out...looks gone.
