Haha, if we got 7 for that there would be some uproar, no doubt.
No, I don't have any sympathy for players who come out and whine about not being selected in the media. Hodge has done it in the past and now his mother has joined in.Originally Posted by dontcloseyoureyes

Players such as Lehmann, Cox, Law, etc. all had to wait during their prime when they didn't get picked. The fact is Hodge is 32, and he needs to put his head down and score a mountain of runs, rather than moan about not getting picked. It is the same with MacGill.

What about one of Hodgies old High School teachers. Maybe he could line one of them up for an interview later in the week and really apply maximum pressure on the selection panel.
I don't really care about whether he's whined in the media or not, the fact of the matter is he deserves it, and wanting to put someone else in there just to spite him is a pretty poor way of thinking.
Yes - I agree that Hodge does deserve the number six spot. But, approaching 32 years of age, and with Australia wanting another bowling option, it's not all about whether he deserves the position or not.
The fact is, North has been every bit as good as Hodge over the last four seasons, and considering he is 4-5 years younger, is more deserving of the spot in my opinion. I don't believe we need an all rounder.
North? Certainly didn't look in Hodge's class when he played for us
Disregarding the fact he made 115* in about 70 today, over the last few seasons North has averaged;
2003-04: 984 runs at 54.66
2004-05: 747 runs at 53.35
2005-06: 712 runs at 50.85
And so far this season, 498 runs at 83.00.
He couldn't do a whole lot more to get picked, especially with a spot that is in the balance.
I think the Melbourne newspapers are trying to make an issue of it, rather than Hodge looking to make it a big deal. There are is an incredible amount of stuff printed about him here and I don't think it's his fault. And anyways, anyone who is anyone has their mother or mother-in-law in the spotlight these days.
Rest In Peace Craigos
