I thought maybe Ponting might declare here with nine down, just to deny the English the satisfaction of bowling the Aussies out. I guess it makes things pretty clear as to his approach.

That could do the job... His battering at the hands of KP and subsequent defensive tactics might count against him though.

Giles can't buy a wicket here, doesn't even look threatening against McGrath. Hoggard has done so well though, put in the hard work and came off with a real fine performance, stand out of the series for me so far.

    England lead by 38 runs....

i reckon they'll get like... possibly 140 run lead before the close of play?

Hell, they'll be going pretty hard to get that far in front by the close, won't they? About 20-odd overs left in the day, they'd be going at 5 per over - I don't think anyone has gone that fast on this deck so far, have they?

Well bowled Hoggard. England finally bowl a side out on this tour.

Still can't see it being anything other than a draw.

    CW being down really bites.

Inside edge somehow misses the stumps. Once again unlucky.

Giles was pathetic once again. Even McGrath was playing him with confidence.

If he plays another test in this Ashes, I'll rate Duncan Fletcher as the stupidest coach in test cricket.
