Massive game for Cook, Collingwood and Monty (if he plays). Anyone playing their first series against Australia needs to get off to a good start, IMO, because they’re so good at choking you up if you fail the first time, and by the time you’ve got that self-confidence, chances are that the series is over. Look at Pietersen and Bell’s fortunes last series.

And yes, Collingwood did play in the last match of the last series, but this is a different kettle of fish, IMO.

What sort of message does this send to Monty? 'Yeah you've been our best bowler through the summer, but this is the old boys club'. Not sure how much joy he'd have got but for crying out loud, he's earnt the right to play. I hope Gilo bags a pair.

Feedback on the decision to play Giles coming in. "Giles starting in place of Panesar? We all knew it was coming. What is going on? Fletcher you havn't got a clue," writes Neil.
Pickup telling it like it is.

edit: Geez. Warne and McGrath's 100th test together. Must be a record, that.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
England to bat and be 2-75 at lunch. An early wicket by Lee, and then a wicket just ebfore lunch by Clark.

This must be some horrible nightmare, no Monty, Giles plays. Aussies win toss. Next someone will tell me Mahmood and Plunkett are opening the bowling.

Monty's out. This is going to be fun:

Predict Giles's bowling figures:

150/2.

But at least he'll score a 20.
