Well if you are Duncan Fletcher then ODIs are merely about blooding test match specialists to see if they are good enough in the test format.However despite the fact that its taken him so long to realise it, i have to say that this England ODI side looks somewhat competitive now. Read is finally back into the ODI side and provides something different down the order, while Michael Yardy on first looks looks like the flexible player they've never had. Further more they've finally selected John Lewis after ridiculously dropping him after one game and he provides some well needed control in the bowling department along with Flintoff and Anderson. the only 2 weak points are strauss and collingwood but i think they can be covered up sufficiently. it would have helped had they picked a side like this some 2 years ago so that they had time to develop as players but instead they were too busy picking the likes of Clarke, key, mcgrath, plunkett and mahmood.
