Let me try to explain the selectorial thought process in detail here ....
a) India Blue is essentially the regular XI, with Powar missing out so he can get a guaranteed role elsewhere.
b) India Red is essentially the India A side, with Uthappa, Gambhir, Sharma, Rao, Badrinath, Karthik and VRV having played in that team recently.
c) India Green is essentially a makeshift side of all the other guys that need an opportunity but have fallen out (Ganguly, Laxman, Nehra, Balaji).
d) Since most of the actual India A bowlers aren't good enough to make the Challenger Trophy (Paul, Trivedi, etc), India Red also has two quality seamers in Zaheer and Sreesanth and perhaps the strong bowling attack has been put there to offset the inexperienced top order.
e) Raina and Kaif have been placed in India Green so that a) they get more playing time and get to play a leading role and b) they get an off day after the UP-Sialkot match, which also explains why Chawla and Kumar are found in India Green.
