Since I'm utterly bored out of my mind here at work (*checks over shoulder to see if anyone's watching*), I've had a quick look into just how terrible Oram has been in the last few years. A quick summary:
Code:
M I NO Runs HS Ave SR
season 2008/09 11 7 1 168 75* 28.00 86.59
season 2009 2 2 0 28 24 14.00 58.33
season 2009/10 7 5 1 139 83 34.75 120.86
season 2010 2 1 0 14 14 14.00 140.00
season 2010/11 10 6 1 86 25 17.20 111.68
season 2011/12 4 3 1 88 59 44.00 166.03
season 2012 4 4 0 55 32 13.75 69.62
season 2012/13 1 1 0 2 2 2.00 50.00
For a total of 443 runs @ 19.3.
So, he's had one okay season, in 09/10, and in 11/12 he averaged 44 but only batted three times, for scores of 4*, 59 and 25, all against Zimbabwe. How on Earth does he keep getting put up the order?
Actually, now I think about it, his ODI batting has always been terrible, bar a year or two about five years ago. Going year by year since his debut gives this:
Code:
M I NO Runs HS Ave SR
year 2001 17 16 1 229 59 15.26 81.49
year 2002 10 10 2 138 46* 17.25 71.50
year 2003 22 14 1 239 81 18.38 68.48
year 2004 21 13 2 221 54 20.09 82.46
year 2005 12 9 0 207 42 23.00 71.62
year 2006 5 4 0 87 43 21.75 69.60
year 2007 23 16 5 549 101* 49.90 98.21
year 2008 13 8 1 319 88 45.57 98.76
year 2009 12 9 1 105 33* 13.12 70.46
year 2010 6 3 0 109 83 36.33 178.68
year 2011 12 7 2 90 25 18.00 115.38
year 2012 7 7 0 141 59 20.14 104.44
He's more or less always averaged 20ish, barring those two years highlighted. Makes for terrible reading, but I suppose he'll keep getting picked as a batsman because he's left handed or something.
