Haha yeah agree with both of you. I would not have the balls to oppose the general thoughts in my final year 12 essays, as you are taking a risk that you will get a marker who actually likes free thought and writing that is of the square. I went completely formulaic during all my assessment. It was just not worth the risk.
But unless you're being a smart arse, I generally found my teachers were happy for me to question or disagree with certain themes in English. They were generally good like that. Other subjects less so, but fair enough. I'm sure if I was a teacher I'd crack it if a 17 year old punk tried to tell me that the concept of inflation is wrong in Economics class.
