I do not think it is fair to say that he is no longer Mendis. Everyone goes through bad form and the fact that he is a mystery spinner does not mean that his bad form would be permanent. One of his key strengths, when on song, is that he is very accurate and does produce the odd ball that is unplayable and this is not something that will simply disappear, especially in Test cricket.
That whole being shot thing might have got to him a bit too, I reckon.
He is accurate, yes, but he's not predictable in the way Warne was in India. Reckon that explains why he's doing better.
