I think people have this mistaken tendency to look at weaker sides star names and proclaim them to be hardly weak.

I'm quite confident in predicting that no non-European or South American side will get beyond the 2nd round.

I suppose we might have a different definition of weak. You might claim any team that is very unlikely to make the final as weak while I'm hopeful that there aren't any teams who have 3 losses, score no goals and let in 12+.

Also, there is a good chance you are correct about your second point but it is neither here nor there. There are going to be some very good teams that miss out on the last 8 like usual.

Yeah but that's not the biggest claim in the world because in theory that claim (as near as makes little difference) boils down to saying that no non-European or South American side is in the world's top 8, which I think is fairly obviously true.

I'd sooner be drawn against several European teams than Ivory Coast though, as Uppercut said.

Crate of beer of your choice against. With four prank-seeds it's easy to see a 2nd round match a la USA v Ghana.

Thoughts on Fatini juking the draw then?

It would be pretty funny if France end up in Pot 2 anyway. I would hate to be whichever team ends there, it could well be the group of death.

What would England's dream group be? For Australia, we really need a weak African team from Pot 2 to have any chance of progressing. Failing that, it would be nice to have Uruguay, England or Italy in our group for different reasons.

Don't want England to get an 'easy' group. They had one of those last time and it was torture to watch them scrap their way out of it.

Is Switzerland being a seeded team weird bull**** or am I just that out of the loop?

Would Brazil, Netherlands and Japan be hard enough for you Pothas?

If Switzerland and the Dutch swapped, I would be happy enough with the 8 seeds.

Italy should be a seed, reached final of the Euros and qualified easily.

I would certainly enjoy England more if they get a group like that, the games might actually be good. Watching England at major tournaments against lower ranked nations is just not very fun.

Colombia's seeding is proper bull**** too. Haven't qualified for a WC in years and haven't made it to a Copa America semi-final since 2004.

It's less of a problem because they have a good crop of players now but there's no way in hell they deserve top seeding.

Haha, yeah, it was bloody horrible.

It was basically everything the World Cup should never be. Slow, dull, uninspiring, unexciting, colourless, plodding.
