Jeez if you started to chafe in the first km or so of the marathon you'd be in for a long race wouldn't you?

Wonder if they have emergency Vaseline on stand by.

Mate of mine ran the London marathon a couple of years back and he reckoned a punter he was catching up with at about the nine mile mark had very visibly crapped himself but was still carrying on.

My mate pushed on past as quickly as possible, obvz but man. Is that dedication or just dirty?

Being reported that Valerie Adams, the Kiwi who is favourite to win the womens shot put, wont start because NZ officials forgot to put her name down on the entry list

Pretty sure the track is only 'fast' when the race includes a turn because the corners are more generous. 100m is just a straight line.
Nah, Michael Johnson explained about it on our commentary. Because the surface has been laid down like carpet rather than poured in as liquid it's very hard.

He said it'd be dire to train on because, being so ungiving, it's likely to cause impact injuries with repeated use, but it's very quick to run on.

Apparently, obvz.

Was listening to Maurice Green on my telecast and he said that it wouldn't be that fast for a straight event but for an event like a 400m it's a big difference.

Urgh. Justin Drugs looking worryingly good. Be hateful if he got a medal.

Powell not through as of right, that Dutch lad did him on the dip.

Our Cuban/Sudanese/married-to-a-Scots-drug-smuggler ringer records a disappointing first effort in the triple jump

Took it up to them in the first 80 or so.

Reckon the Jamican 4x100m relay team is a chance for a medal this Olympics hey.
Most ladyboys do.

Pumped for the final, but want to know about an update on Valerie Adams, was she able to compete?
