***Official Swimming Thread***

Lol'd at Phelps only just making the 400IM final, knew it was a slow time after seeing the winner of the heat before them finish with a time 5 seconds faster but still thought he & Cseh would make it comfortably.

Should be illegal to 'dis Rice imo, shame on you.

Reckon she was just foxing though. Either that, or her shoulders really are screwed like we've heard every other week since the trials.

Nice NZ-record performance by Snyders. Pretty average day for the rest of the NZ swim team, must be said.

Yeah, she's a glam (for a swimmer) but I don't think she's got the record over the past 18 months. If she pulls anything off, it's a bonus IMO.

Phelps looked pretty poor in that final - 3rd Olympics is a killer for even the great ones

Apparently wasn't foxing....

Quite upset at the pool side interview, and rightly so.

Nice.

Wouldn't be a swim meet unless Our Dawn featured prominently in tv coverage when an aussie has a win.

Brittany Elmslie a decent sort. I mean, no Amanda Beard, but not bad at all.

Good to see Channel Nine taking its usual "it's about us" routine all the way to the biggest event in the world, with the commentators telling us all about their reaction to the girls' relay win.

Good relay that at the end, thought the Dutch girl was going to do it at one point but credit to the Aussie team.

Our lot swam at about their level, a few medal chances later in the competition particularly Adlington.

Ian Thorpe's a disappointment on our coverage. So far just been a horrible combination of slightly camp, slightly smug, and very brash.

Slightly camp?

Makes the gay character in Coronation Street seem macho.
