When you consider that Lochte had that race home and hosed by that stage, whilst it was still very much live in the final 50 in Ye's race, you can see why. Ye's final split would only have been the 4/5th best in that race. The only time differential that actually matters was the 23 seconds that is the gap between Lochte's and Ye's time. 23 seconds. It's like statsguru stupidity, cutting and chopping until you get a result which superficially looks odd but in context is basically meaningless.
Massive beatup. Rice shaved ~6sec off her PB for Beijing in the same event, did anyone raise a stink then?

+ time's fickle card game ~ with you and i +
Exactly, and as Thorpe keeps going on about on BBC teenagers CAN easily improve their times dramatically at championships when the heat of competition is on. He admits he broke one of his pb's by 5 seconds when he was 15 so knows exactly what he is on about.
If this girl was an American or Aussie nothing would be said but because the Chinese cheated 20 years ago they are all tarred with the same brush. Does it mean every eastern european champion is cheating as their countries used to 30 years ago?

Lost by 1/100th of a second. The difference between Uncle Toby's ads for life and endorsements for Port Macquarie Used Cars.
And copping a disgraceful pool side interview. "A gut wrenching loss", "You must be devastated". Fmd the poor bugger - 1/100th. It's a finger nail.
The T in the Commonwealth Bank ad has been vindicated again!!!
Tough marking to say that a silver medal was a poor swim but that was pretty much what it was
He should have won that by quite a way - far quicker swimmer than the gold medallist but the dark circles beneath his eyes indicate he hasnt slept too well and lost it before the race
Anyway, officially a ****ed Olympics so far for Oz
Thorpe failing not to sound as if he's enjoying a spot of Schadenfreude on the Beeb's coverage. Turning the queeniness all the way up to eleven.

In the UAE, we get coverage from a number of sources but I generally tune in to Bruce McAvaney/Nicole Livingstone as the rest are basically cheerleaders whilst the former have definitely been the least impartial and most knowledgeable
Thorpe is painful and support crew are a joke
Anyway, the Aussies finally cracked tonight after the British guy won a medal by declaring it the most expensive in history (13 million pounds per medal in the pool so far)
Made me feel better after watching another loss

****kkkk.
Great swim by Allison Schmitt. That was ridicuous considering how far behind she was going into that last leg. Thought we were a chance there.
