Didnt realise that Magnussen was so far ahead of the rest of the world in the 100m - something like half a second

Would have to rank as one of the biggest upsets of the Games if he doesnt win

Pretty much an open secret about Thorpe, isn't it? Sister ain't fooling anyone, is she?

His representatives are notoriously litigious when it comes to rumours and so far nothing has surfaced that they havent been able to squash in a hearbeat

Not that there is anything wrong with it .....

Bronze for Becky Adlington in the 400 free then. Fair play to her.

Dumb decisions to have Magnussen lead off, and he swam a dud leg tbh.

Nice one Adlington, set her up nicely for the favoured event later in the week.

Well done Froggies, great to see the Yanks get beat.

Yet another example of why you shouldn't gob off ahead of an event like the Olympics. It's been all about Magnussen in the lead up to these Games, and he's been pretty lippy himself.

Has there been a random gold medal for Australia today in some obscure sport like trap shooting or the Archery? We usually do that early doors.

Magnussen is gutted. Hopefully Steve Waugh gets in his shell-like and tells him to HTFU.

Magnussen's reaction and body language while the race was still going and his teammates still had to swim was nothing short of piss poor. All about him. Feel free to mope around after the race is done but they were still in medal contention after he finished, he should have been encouraging his teammates.
