Greatest upsets/shock results in WC history
I guess New Zealand and their 1-1 draw with Italy would be up there. Also North Korea knocking Italy out of the 1966 WC should deserve a mention.

If only I had been alive to see the first 3 on that list. They sound indescribably funny.

Then left the score as wallpaper on the hostel computer...didn't get petty at all about it. |
Someone said the Italians were pelted with fruit and vegetables at the airport as soon as they got off the plane. Can't really blame the fans on that one.

Norway beating Brazil was also a great upset.
If England goes out in the first round, it would be one of the biggest upsets ever. |

Not sure about the republic being there, they'd already beaten (a half-decent) England in a tournament Was cool, but not a massive shock IIRR. Norn was great though. |
Yeah and Ireland had actually reached the Quarters at the previous WC

Yes, they were a very solid outfit for a while really. Did have a liability scouser as a striker, but that shouldn't make it a massive upset. |

South Korea beating Italy in the second round in 2002 up there for sheer hilarity.
Bulgaria beating Jerry in 94 brings a warm, tingly feeling too. IIRC yer Bulgars had never won a WC game before the 94 finals. |
