2010 World Cup Tipping Comp
Oh, yes, people. The 4-year long wait is almost at an end, so it's only fitting we mark the occasion with a tipping competition to determine which CWer best knows his (or her) association football.
The scoring system is slightly more complex than the the one I used for the Premier League comp, but only slightly: - For each game you predict an actual score; eg: South Africa 2 Mexico 2. - For a correct prediction of a win you score 1 point; eg: you tip SA 1 Mex 0 and SA win 3-0. - For a correct prediction of a draw you score 2 points; eg: you tip SA 0 Mex 0 and it's a 1-1 draw. - For a correct prediction of a margin of victory you also score 2 points; eg: you tip SA 1 Mex 0 & the result is SA 2 Mex 1. NB: you will not also receive a point for predicting the win. - For a correct prediction of the actual scoreline you receive 3 points; eg: you tip SA 0 Mex 2 and it comes to pass. NB: you will not also receive a point for the win or two points if the result is a draw. - For all incorrect predictions you will score -1; eg: you tip SA 2 Mex 0 and the actual result is a 1-1 draw. - The highest points scorer(s) on each day with games played on will receive a daily bonus of .01, to be used for tie-breaking purposes. - Non-tippers will receive the day's lowest score for 3 days, then be removed from the comp. - Late comers can join on the lowest actual score minus one point. Piece of piss for people of your abilities, I'm sure you'll agree. ----- Friday 11 June South Africa v Mexico France v Uruguay Saturday 12 June Greece v South Korea Argentina v Nigeria England v USA Sunday 13 June Algeria v Slovenia Ghana v Serbia Australia v Germany Monday 14 June Denmark v Netherlands Cameroon v Japan Italy v Paraguay Tuesday 15 June New Zealand v Slovakia Ivory Coast v Portugal Brazil v North Korea Wednesday 16 June Chile v Honduras Spain v Switzerland South Africa v Uruguay Thursday 17 June Argentina v South Korea Greece v Nigeria France v Mexico --- Just C&P the fixture list with your scores included. You can tip the lot in one go or do it on an day by day basis. Simple as. Don't be shy, get involved, once every four years, no-one likes a jibber, etc. Besta luck!
