In case anyone is wondering why I nominated Saeed al-Owairan, this would be why:
YouTube - World Cup '94 -- Al Owairan -- Saudi Arabia vs Belgium Remember that goal clearly. Will also nominate Paul Gascoigne for the tears in 1990. I'll also nominate Jose Batista of Uruguay for being sent off within a minute of taking to the field in (I think) 1986. Classic. (#8 in this youtube countdown - YouTube - 10 maiores curiosidades da Copa do Mundo) Finally, Sergio Goychochea (sic.) for all those saved penalties. Don't remember the year.
