Just wondering and I know Hak is the man who will know all of this, now that Kosovo is independent, is their any chance they will have their own team along the same lines of what happened Montenegro gained independence from Serbia and they have their own team? I will say this is that is becoming too bloody hard to keep up with all of it when they keep breaking up into countries all the time.

In Euro 2000 it was Yugoslavia and now they are 3 countries (and probably more, my geography is a bit haywire ATM) with 8 years.
Slovenia, Croatia, Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia-Hercegovina...Kosovo is the 7th nation to come out of Yugoslavia. And there's possibly more to follow
Yeah, makes me wonder why prior to the break-up in 92, Yugoslavia never featured more prominently as a footballing power, then again I guess it's only Croatia who regularly seem to perform

I will openly admit that I had no idea about Slovenia coming out of Yugoslavia, given they are right next to the Italian border and parts of it speak Italian anyway. Then again so is a corner of Croatia.

Africa:
6 June:
12.00, Djibouti, grp 12: Djibouti 0-4 Egypt (not entirely unexpected.)
18.15, Blida, grp 6: Algeria 3-0 Liberia (easy work. Algeria on pace for second)

7 June:
12.30, Victoria, grp 9: Seychelles 0-2 Tunisia (two early goals and Tunisia back on track)
13.00, Nairobi, grp 2: Kenya 2-0 Guinea (result! Yep, this is a very even group. Two goals for Dennis Oliech.)
13.00, Pretoria, grp 4: South Africa 4-1 Equatorial Guinea (and Nigeria and SA will qualify...)
15.00, N'Djamena, grp 10: Chad 1-2 Mali (Mali power on)
16.30, Freetown, grp 4: Sierra Leone 0-1 Nigeria (second half goal from Yobo - Nigeria reasonably safe)
17.00, Praia, grp 1: Cape Verde 1-0 Tanzania (how the green cape has a good football team is beyond me. They have the population of Oslo.)
17.00, Nouakchott, grp 8: Mauritania 1-4 Morocco (a penalty Mauritania's only consolation)
18.00, Tripoli, grp 5: Libya 1-0 Gabon (early goal sends Libya into second place, but they failed to get what could be important goal difference)
18.00, Ouagadougou, grp 9: Burkina Faso 2-0 Burundi (another easy win for the Burkinabe)

8 June:
11.00, Curepipe, grp 1: Mauritius 0-3 Cameroon (too easy)
11.30, Antananarivo, grp 7: Madagascar 0-0 Ivory Coast (good result for the polysyllabic ones. No Drogba, but still.)
13.00, Harare, grp 2: Zimbabwe 2-0 Namibia (Zimboks go top)
13.00, Maputo, grp 7: Mozambique 1-2 Botswana (Botswana took the lead twice, on the second attempt it wored. Now ahead of Ivory Coast on goal difference)
13.00, Addis Abeba, grp 8: Ethiopia 1-2 Rwanda (Hamarkameratene striker Olivier Karekezi scored the decisive goal, as Rwanda came back from 0-1 down. Now level on points with Morocco.)
13.00, Lobamba, grp 11: Swaziland 2-1 Togo (Haha will do as summary.)
14.30, Brazzaville, grp 10: Congo 1-0 Sudan (second half goal has Congo somewhat on the heels of Mali)
14.30, Kinshasa (stadium of martyrs), grp 12: DR Congo 2-0 Malawi (Malawi quickly back to earth after drubbing Djibouti. The biggest Congo in good chance for second.)
15.00, Cotonou, grp 3: Benin 4-1 Uganda (two goals from Nigerian-born Razak Omotoyossi, currently with Helsingborg, after Uganda had taken the early lead.)
15.00, Niamey, grp 3: Niger 1-2 Angola (a solid away win for Angola, who have started their campaign excellently)
15.00, Bloemfontein (South Africa), grp 5: Lesotho 2-3 Ghana (Ghana made hard work of things on neutral ground)
16.00, Bakau, grp 6: Gambia v Senegal

Asia:
7 June:
08.00, Pyongyang, grp 3: North Korea 1-0 Turkmenistan (North Korea confirm their leaders' spot. Turkmenistan hapless.)
12.00, Tianjin, grp 1: China 0-1 Qatar (a massive result - secured by the penalty of naturalised Uruguayan Sebastian Soria. China now rock bottom.)
13.15, Muscat, grp 2: Oman 1-1 Japan (only a penalty saved a point - still, Oman now need a win against Bahrain to overtake Japan)
14.00, Tashkent, grp 4: Uzbekistan 1-0 Singapore (unlike in Singapore, it took the Uzbeks eighty minutes to score. Still, enough to secure qualification.)
15.30, Amman, grp 3: South Korea v Jordan (having come back from 0-2 in Seoul, Jordan could spring a huge upset with a win here. But they would still need a point in North Korea to be safe.)
16.00, Dubai (United Arab Emirates), grp 1: Iraq 1-0 Australia (Australia failed to take the chance of qualifying directly. Still, they would probably go through with one point.)
16.00, Al Ain, grp 5: United Arab Emirates 0-1 Iran (a genuine six-pointer, won by Zandi, who earns his keep on Cyprus. Iran back on top, briefly.)
16.30, Riffa, grp 2: Bahrain 1-1 Thailand (Bahrain virtually qualified nonetheless, thanks to Oman's poor result.)
18.00, Riyadh, grp 4: Lebanon 1-2 Saudi Arabia (not quite sure why this was moved. Anyway, Redha Tukar's two goals made it easy, Lebanon got a consolation goal in injury time.)

8 June:
18.45, Al Salmiya, grp 5: Kuwait v Syria (Syria still unbeaten after three games, but this game not particularly crucial as Kuwait are already out of it. A point will be enough.)

The final results, after edit time limit:

16.00, Bakau, Africa grp 6: Gambia 0-0 Senegal (Senegal top of group despite giving away a point against former colony-mates.)

18.45, Al Salmiya, Asia grp 5: Kuwait 4-2 Syria (Syria's first defeat, courtesy of a hattrick from Al Qadisiyah's goalgetter Ahmad Ajab Al-Azemi. Makes things easier for the Emirates, who are now in second on goal difference to Syria.)

Weekend's matches - a quite long post here...

Africa:

13 June:
12.00, Djibouti, grp 12: Djibouti v DR Congo (Away side hefty favourites. Djibouti usually withdraw out of embarrassment.)
17.00, Nouakchott, grp 8: Mauritania v Ethiopia (bottom dwellers, both sides almost out of the running already)

14 June:
12.30, Blantyre, grp 12: Malawi v Egypt (Egypt should put a stranglehold on the group - though even a point here will have them in a good position)
12.30, Victoria, grp 9: Seychelles v Burkina Faso (little Seychelles against the group leaders. Should be a rout.)
13.00, Gaborone, grp 7: Botswana v Ivory Coast (two top teams, though both have struggled to draws against Madagascar. Ivory Coast will probably be happier should the game end in a draw.)
13.00, Dar-es-Salaam, grp 1: Tanzania v Cameroon (Cameroon the only team in the group with positive goal difference and any international footballing pedigree. Should be a win.)
13.00, Nairobi, grp 2: Kenya v Zimbabwe (Kenya have a history of choking after promising starts. Could set themselves up for qualification here with a win over Zimbabwe though.)
13.00, Kampala, grp 3: Uganda v Angola (Angola have been solid so far, big win at home against Benin. Uganda had a weak result in Benin and face a long travel home.)
13.30, Kigali, grp 8: Rwanda v Morocco (Little Rwanda stand with two wins, and could get known for more than wars should they win here - that along with return leg wins over Ethiopia and Mauritania will be good enough to get them into second round on points.)
14.00, Windhoek, grp 2: Namibia v Guinea (Surprisingly last-placed Guinea trying to get things back on track, while Namibia will need to show their win over Kenya was no fluke.)
14.30, Libreville, grp 5: Gabon v Ghana (Ghana have eased to top spot and should get three points here.)
15.00, Niamey, grp 3: Niger v Benin (Benin will keep their eye on second spot with a win. Niger need one to keep their theoretical hopes afloat.)
15.00, N'Djamena, grp 10: Chad v Congo (This group in a bit of a limbo after Chad's semi-political action against Sudan, which has seen them banned from the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying. Still count towards the World Cup, which could potentially mean grand chaos. Anyway, Mali unbeaten, Chad without a win.)
16.30, Freetown, grp 4: Sierra Leone v South Africa (South Africa should ease to three points, though they're only up for Africa Cup of Nations qualifying.)
17.00, Banjul, grp 6: Gambia v Algeria (Gambia yet to lose, though they do need a win against Algeria if they want to progress.)
17.00, Omdurman, grp 10: Sudan v Mali (Bottom vs top, and Mali don't really have any great opposition in this group)

15 June:
11.00, Curepipe, grp 1: Mauritius v Cape Verde (the green cape obvious favourites in the battle of archipelagoes. Which should give them a five-point cushion.)
11.30, Antananarivo, grp 7: Madagascar v Mozambique (Madagascar have two draws thus far, against cross-ocean neighbours Mozambique, who have lost twice against the same teams. Mozambique probably out of it with an away loss here.)
13.00, Bloemfontein (South Africa), grp 5: Lesotho v Libya (Lesotho scored two goals on Ghana, so they've got something going for them. No news on their strike-postponed match in Gabon, which has seen them further down on the table than they perhaps deserve.)
13.00, Bujumbura, grp 9: Burundi v Tunisia (Tunisia can't afford another away performance like in Ouagadougou, while Burundi have struggled to emulate the performance of northern neighbours Rwanda.)
13.00, Mbabane, grp 11: Swaziland v Zambia (Swaziland in an amazingly good position to put Togo on the outside of the World Cup before the qualifying has really begun. Win here and draw in Togo would conceivably be enough. But Zambia are a side that are due some international success.)
14.30, Malabo, grp 4: Equatorial Guinea v Nigeria (Nigeria yet to concede a goal, and surely won't have many problems with tiny Equatorial Guinea.)
16.00, Monrovia, grp 6: Liberia v Senegal (Senegal will probably take another away draw, but at the same time - this is when they have their international players available. They should take advantage of Liberia here.)

Asia:
14 June:
08.00, Pyongyang, grp 3: North Korea v Jordan (absolute last chance for Jordan after stuffing up at home. Anything less than three points and they're eliminated. Likewise, North Korea are qualified with a draw)
10.20, Bangkok, grp 2: Thailand v Japan (Thailand virtually eliminated, but got their first point against group leaders Bahrain. They're in need of something special though.)
11.30, Singapore, grp 4: Singapore v Saudi Arabia (Singapore's motley crew of nationalised players virtually eliminated, needing a win by at least a couple of goals here.)
12.00, Tianjin, grp 1: China v Iraq (China were shocking in their last match here, and will be out with a loss. Iraq's win over Australia means they've got qualification in their own hands now, though a big win over Qatar may be needed.)
14.00, Ashgabat, grp 4: Turkmenistan v South Korea (Turkmenistan already eliminated - South Korea will qualify with a win.)
14.00, Tashkent, grp 5: Uzbekistan v Lebanon (Uzbeks qualified, Lebanon eliminated. Unimportant. Next.)
16.00, Doha, grp 1: Qatar v Australia (Australia continue their tour of the Arabian peninsula. A loss here could put their qualification in doubt, and even a draw could set up a play-off with a China.)
16.30, Manama, grp 2: Bahrain v Oman (Oman need a win by a couple of goals to keep up the pace. Essentially out in a group with two of the six best sides in Asia though.)
17.00, Damascus, grp 5: Syria v Iran (Iran have been better away than home, and Syria fell to third after becoming the first to fall to Kuwait. Iran will do ok with a draw here, seeing as their final match should be a three-pointer.)
17.45, Kuwait City, grp 5: Kuwait v UAE (Kuwait in good form, and could actually go first with a lot of luck with results. Though the team, who last qualified in 1982, are more likely to go out after a final loss in Teheran. The winner pretty well positioned though.)

CONCACAF - second round, first leg, knockouts - group number used to denote which group the winners qualify for in the third round:
14 June:
16.00, Paramaribo, grp 3: Suriname v Guyana (Guyana rating favourite, but very slight.)
20.00, St George's, grp 3: Grenada v Costa Rica (Costa Rica should make a breeze of this - though Grenada did score a couple of goals on the US in the last qualifying series.)
00.00, Bayamon, grp 2, second leg: Puerto Rico v Honduras (1st leg 0-4)
15 June 02.00 am, Guatemala City, grp 1: Guatemala v St Lucia (Guatemala have a couple of decent results lately - in fact, they were just five minutes from getting a play-off spot with Bahrain. Saint Lucia's population: 160,000.)

15 June:
19.00, Kingstown, grp 2: St Vincent and the Grenadines v Canada (potential upset here. St Vincent have punched above their weight, had a FIFA ranking to avoid the first knockout round, and Canada aren't very good.)
19.00, Port-au-Prince, grp 3: Haiti v Netherlands Antilles (neither of these sides reached the semis the last time around. Haiti won the Caribbean Nations Cup and start as favourites.)
20.00, Panama City, grp 3: Panama v El Salvador (pretty close. These two sides met in qualifying group last time, with Panama triumphing 4-2 on aggregate and qualifying for the next round at the expense of Jamaica and El Salvador. Time for El Salvador to swing themselves back to the heights of the '70s and '80s.)
20.30, Houston (USA), grp 2: Belize v Mexico (rout. Doesn't help that it's on semi-neutral ground, the Hispanics will flock to the game.)
21.00, Los Angeles suburbs, grp 1: United States v Barbados (Barbados really struggled in the first knockout. Easy meat.)
21.30, Macoya, grp 1: Trinidad/Tobago v Bermuda (Bermuda have an ok record, and if they can get a good result of this leg the return match could be a cracker.)
23.00, Kingston, grp 2: Jamaica v Bahamas (both matches in this rubber to be played on Jamaica. As Roseboy said, this should be sleepwalking for Jamaica.)

The Antigua/Barbuda v Cuba match - played at the ARG - has been postponed to Wednesday 18 June.

South America:
14 June:
18.00, Montevideo: Uruguay v Venezuela (two teams struggling around the qualification mark. Venezuela have recovered in recent years, and came back from 2-3 against Bolivia to win and seize fifth. Uruguay have one point in the last three matches and need to improve to get the fifth place they usually book.)
15 June 01.00 am, Lima: Peru v Colombia (Jefferson Vargas saved a point against Brazil, but Peru have otherwise been embarrassing. Colombia are fourth, but have played three of four games at home.)

15 June:
19.00, Asunción: Paraguay v Brazil (Brazil have never failed to qualify and are third thus far with good away results. Paraguay are leading on the back of 5-1 against Ecuador and 3-0 against Chile.)
21.10, Buenos Aires: Argentina v Ecuador (Second against eighth, and Argentina's home record is enviable. Seven straight home wins, 19 wins and one draw in their last 20. They haven't lost at home in qualifying since a 0-5 drubbing at the hands of Colombia in 1993.)
23.30, La Paz: Bolivia v Chile (Bolivia have won their match against FIFA, and are allowed to play at 3,637 metres asl. Hasn't helped much in this qualifying, where they have one point from four games, but Chile have hardly been excellent either, and lie seventh.)

Oceania:
14 June, 03.00 am, Port Vila: Vanuatu v New Caledonia (there will be some semblance of excitement if New Caledonia beat Vanuatu here. It would be their first win in Vanuatu since 1992 - a friendly series in New Caledonia July last year finished with a win apiece.)

Yech, talk is that Verbeek is again going to start Kewell as a lone striker tonight. I can see the game turning out just like the Iraq game if that indeed happens. Hopefully they'll at least play a bit more of an attacking style this time though, instead of filling the team with defense minded players.

EDIT: It seems this is indeed the case, but Brett Lolman? Dire.

Results from Friday & Saturday:

Africa:

13 June:
12.00, Djibouti, grp 12: Djibouti 0-6 DR Congo (took 25 minutes to score, at least. A semi-victory)
17.00, Nouakchott, grp 8: Mauritania 0-1 Ethiopia (second half goal sealed things)

14 June:
12.30, Blantyre, grp 12: Malawi 1-0 Egypt (Egypt tossed away a good start, so now three teams are tied on six points each)
12.30, Victoria, grp 9: Seychelles 2-3 Burkina Faso (Seychelles: population 80,000 - led 2-1 after fifty minutes against the group leaders. Dagano's hattrick separated the teams in the end though)
13.00, Gaborone, grp 7: Botswana 1-1 Ivory Coast (another draw for these teams, their second, with Ivory Coast coming back from a goal down at half-time.)
13.00, Dar-es-Salaam, grp 1: Tanzania 0-0 Cameroon (Cameroon dropped their first point, yet face little challenge from Tanzania overall.)
13.00, Nairobi, grp 2: Kenya 2-0 Zimbabwe (Kenya setting themselves up for a memorable campaign. Top of group two now.)
13.00, Kampala, grp 3: Uganda 3-1 Angola (Angola brought back to earth through early strikes, and in fact their goal was in injury time. Group is pretty close now.)
13.30, Kigali, grp 8: Rwanda 3-1 Morocco (Epic. Absolutely epic. Even though Morocco are not the footballing power of the 1990s, this is legendary stuff. Morocco came back in the second half, only for Bokota and Hamkam striker Karekezi to score in the final ten.)
14.00, Windhoek, grp 2: Namibia 1-2 Guinea (Twice Guinea took the lead - Namibia only came back once, having trailed at half-time. The plot thickens.)
14.30, Libreville, grp 5: Gabon 2-0 Ghana (It really was a day of shocks, wasn't it. Back line provide goals and Gabon's first win.)
15.00, Niamey, grp 3: Niger 0-2 Benin (Three teams tied on six points now. Fairly sure the top two will go through, and if Benin get a point in Uganda they will be one of those two.)
15.00, N'Djamena, grp 10: Chad 2-1 Congo (Chad came back from 0-1 down and go second, though it's intriguingly poised behind Mali.)
16.30, Freetown, grp 4: Sierra Leone 1-0 South Africa (away matches really aren't the RSA's thing. Sierra Leone take their first points through a penalty from AEK Athina's Mohamed Kallon, formerly of Inter and Monaco.)
17.00, Banjul, grp 6: Gambia 1-0 Algeria (Gambia's first win in their three-game undefeated streak. A brief spell on top of the group until Senegal demolish Liberia tomorrow.)
17.00, Omdurman, grp 10: Sudan 3-2 Mali (civil war may not necessarily cause footballing destruction)

Winner to playoff with Asia, 3 of 6 games played
Asia:
08.00, Pyongyang, grp 3: North Korea 2-0 Jordan (that's group three finished; both Koreas are qualified.)
10.20, Bangkok, grp 2: Thailand 0-3 Japan (two first-half goals and Japan sealed group two. Oman have the slimmest of chances, but need a hell of a lot of goals.)
11.30, Singapore, grp 4: Singapore 0-2 Saudi Arabia (one goal in each half sinks Singapore.)
12.00, Tianjin, grp 1: China 1-2 Iraq (Iraq came back from 1-0 down to send China out yet again. Embarrassingly early exit.)
14.00, Ashgabat, grp 4: Turkmenistan 1-3 South Korea (South Korea were already qualified thanks to their commie neighbours' result, but prevailed in a match of two penalties.)
14.00, Tashkent, grp 5: Uzbekistan 3-0 Lebanon (five wins from five from Uzbeks. Surely they'll qualify this time around, after their own federation trumped them against Bahrain.)
16.00, Doha, grp 1: Qatar 1-3 Australia (well celebrated in a sister thread. Two goals from Emerton and one from Kewell. Australia are qualified for the next stage.)
16.30, Manama, grp 2: Bahrain 1-1 Oman (despite a late equaliser, Oman are out.)
17.00, Damascus, grp 5: Syria 0-2 Iran (Iran have dug their way out of the hole exceptionally well, and are qualified with a game to spare. Kholam Riza the deciding goal, the second goal well into injury time. Syria now need a three goal win in the final game in UAE.)
17.45, Kuwait City, grp 5: Kuwait 2-3 UAE (Kuwait couldn't keep up their form from their win over Syria, despite Ahmed Ajab once again starring with two goals as they came back from 2-0. But Seif Mohammed of Al Shaab Sharjah managed a last-minute winner.)

Two best teams to fourth round
Iraq v Qatar and UAE v Syria in the final round are both knockout matches.

This also means the seeding pots for the fourth round is determined.
Pot 1: Australia, South Korea
Pot 2: Iran, Saudi Arabia OR Japan (random draw)
Pot 3: Saudi Arabia OR Japan (random draw), Bahrain
Pot 4: Uzbekistan, North Korea, UAE OR Syria, Iraq OR Qatar.

If the draw was really nasty to yer Aussies, you could get Iran, Japan, Uzbeks and North Korea. Conversely, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Syria and Iraq is easier, but not by that much.

South America:
14 June:
18.00, Montevideo: Uruguay 1-1 Venezuela (visitors will probably be the most pleased, though in this long league campaign wins are vital.)
15 June 01.00 am, Lima: Peru 1-1 Colombia (another draw. Juan Carlos Marino scored the equaliser five minutes from half time, Peru had some good chances late on but couldn't capitalise.)

Second round, first leg, knockouts - group number used to denote which group the winners qualify for in the third round:
14 June:
20.00, Paramaribo, grp 3: Suriname 1-0 Guyana (this was a close tie, and Guyana have the chance to come back, though they lack away goals.)
20.00, St George's, grp 3: Grenada 2-2 Costa Rica (Costa Rica came back from 2-0 down, though it was pretty dismal. Still, they're through with 0-0, so Grenada need to attack in the away leg.)
00.00, Bayamon, grp 2, second leg: Puerto Rico 2-2 Honduras (aggregate 2-6 - Honduras let in two goals in the second half but were never threatened.)
15 June 02.00 am, Guatemala City, grp 1: Guatemala 6-0 St Lucia (at least they made it easy. Four goals by captain Carlos Ruíz, team-mate of Sr. Beckham.)

I think they just have to get to a certain stage. That being an earlier one than everyone else.

Wooooh, go New Zealand. Another NZ world cup? Probably not, but that'd be cool.

Sunday's matches:

Africa:

15 June:
11.00, Curepipe, grp 1: Mauritius 0-1 Cape Verde (a goal from the Lisbon-born Dady takes the green cape within a point of Cameroon, with a home match against them in September.)
11.30, Antananarivo, grp 7: Madagascar 1-1 Mozambique (an injury time equaliser by Guy Mamihasindrahona sees the hosts keep third place with their third draw in a row.)
13.00, Bloemfontein (South Africa), grp 5: Lesotho 0-1 Libya (took 80 minutes for Libya to score - but now they're in prime position to make second spot. Though Gabon's win over Ghana confuses the group somewhat.)
13.00, Bujumbura, grp 9: Burundi 0-1 Tunisia (Birmingham defender Radhi Jaïdi slotted home the second half winner, leaving Tunisia on the heels of Burkina Faso. Both should qualify.)
13.00, Mbabane, grp 11: Swaziland 0-0 Zambia (Swaziland couldn't score, and have thus thrown away their advantage in the group - they now need a draw with Togo in their final game to qualify.)
14.30, Malabo, grp 4: Equatorial Guinea 0-1 Nigeria (an early goal, and Nigeria keep their no-goal-against streak.)
16.00, Monrovia, grp 6: Liberia 2-2 Senegal (Senegal tossed away a 2-0 lead in the last 15 minutes.)

The dates have also been confirmed for one postponed match:
28 June: Gabon v Lesotho

Chad v Sudan still in limbo.

Two best teams + 8 best runners-up in 4-team groups qualify

CONCACAF:

15 June:
19.00, Kingstown, grp 2: St Vincent and the Grenadines 0-3 Canada (comfortable win at Amos Vale, leaving Canada to easily go through.)
19.00, Port-au-Prince, grp 3: Haiti 0-0 Netherlands Antilles (yawn between two poor teams. The Antilles take a draw to Willemstad next week though.)
20.00, Panama City, grp 3: Panama 1-0 El Salvador (club nomad Luis Tejada gives Panama a good chance of qualifying. El Salvador fail to keep up their good effort from stage 1.)
20.30, Houston (USA), grp 2: Belize 0-2 Mexico (last minute penalty securing things)
21.00, Los Angeles suburbs, grp 1: United States 8-0 Barbados (a cricket score. Hat trick from Hawaiian-Chinese Brian Ching capped a strong performance by a full-strength side.)
21.30, Macoya, grp 1: Trinidad/Tobago 1-2 Bermuda (oops. Trinidad qualified for the last World Cup, and could be out two years before the thing actually happens now.)
23.00, Kingston, grp 2: Jamaica 7-0 Bahamas (all too easy. Even got a goal from the substitute)

Top two to final round
South America:
15 June:
19.00, Asunción: Paraguay 2-0 Brazil (wow Paraguay. That's their third win in a row now, though it has to be said that Brazil wasn't at their strongest.)
21.10, Buenos Aires: Argentina 1-1 Ecuador (injury time equaliser keeps Argentina's 15-year unbeaten record at home alive. Yet, this was an embarrassment against an Ecuador squad who are restarting their chase for third. Their goal slotted in by 2006 substitute Patricio Urrutia.)
23.30, La Paz: Bolivia 0-2 Chile (despite playing in the mountains, two splendid goals from 20-year-old Gary Medel of Santiago's Catholic University team sees Chile prevail over the group's rubbish heap.)
