They choked pure and simple. This was an easy target They should have chased it easily, They panicked and lost. The fear of winning is what u call choking and they feared winning today and choked.

In an new IPL draft, if Afridi is made available, he could set a new $$ record.
Not like he's provided a lot of value to his side to date. In fact he leaves and his side goes from last to winning the whole thing...go figure

But yeah, close to the best limited overs spinner in the world these days in terms of output and consistency.

One of the commentators in the Sky studio called it (might've been Nick Knight); this was the first game SA had to win. With all their other games so far they knew either they had another chance in the next game or had already qualified, so the pressure was off.

Classic jaapie chokage IMHO.

Yes the pressure was on and the Proteas choke.

Still Pakistan played brilliantly and the deserved winners. The team that held the nerve better won it.

Wouldn't be a World Cup without them choking it away. Lovely stuff.
Lol.

In other news I didn't think it would be possible for Afridi to be any more popular in Pakistan but this could just do it for him. Eve I love him more than ever now.

Well played Pakistan, its a great achievement on their part to reach back to back finals of the T20 WC, and like what many people are saying, Proteas have only themselves to blame for this loss, they were going great guns in this tournament, and there was no reason why they should have lost chasing this target.

Afridi was last man that, I expected to fire in such a big game, but gotta give credit to the man, pretty much single handedly won his team the game yesterday.

Dont think they choked as such, cause they played well, but just failed to raise their game when it mattered most. I would say that they got a number of their strategies wrong as well, Im not sure why they didnt have one of Morkel, Van Der Merwe or Boucher bat up the order.

Whether you like Pakistan or you hate them, they were smart in having someone like Afridi bat 3 to play the pinch hitter role early, not to mention Akmal having the lincense to do whatever he wants because they still have the more sensible and reliable players like Younis, Malik and Misbah to come in the middle order. SA missed a trick with Smith, Kallis, Gibbs, ABD and Duminy all coming in one after the other, especially with the 2 most aggressive out of them failing to fire today.

Younus Kahn may have made a mistake bowling Alam, but sending in Afridi at 3 - ballsy... and match-winning.
Yeah impressed with that and the idea of having Gul as a specialist death bowler which is paying dividends. I have mixed feelings about Pakistan in the final, given the kind of attitude the captain has shown during his interviews about twenty20, but theres no denying that they bring a lot of flair and pizzazz to the tournament and that it would do good for the game if they won.

Have to feel for SA though, given that they are without doubt the best all round team in the tournament.

Whatever it takes!!!
lol.. if it happens to be pak Vs SL, that is two T20 WC finals in a row between the subcontinent teams... :)

On the other hand, if it is Pak Vs Windies, it is the two most unpredictable sides in the world (even in this format)... Gonna be a gr8 final either way.

Still picking Sangakkara to lift up the trophy on Sunday.

Not a choke as such, but 7 runs short with 5 wickets left chasing 150 suggests one or two of them could have taken a few more chances. Well done Pakistan though.

EDIT
Sounds like Smith felt the same - "We had Albie padded up from the 11th over but if we don't lose wicket, he can't come back." Not quite a glowing endorsement of Kallis & Duminy's efforts.
Yeah wish Duminy or Kallis had at least tried to come down the track to Gul or done something different to try to upset him off that length that he had nailed down perfectly.

Meh would be unfortunate if that happened IMO. Sri Lanka have played well, but its incredibly obvious to me that they are a poor batting side, an ordinary fielding side and an extraordinary bowling side. They have superstars with the ball that are currently making up for their deficiencies in all other departments.
