Nice writeup. Really enjoyed it - and got quite jealous as well.

Glad you had a good time. Would have loved to be there.

Good read.

Do you really think that that win was more important to Ireland than that against Pakistan which got it through to the Super 8 stages of the WC in the Windies?

Good read.

In a true sense, no. To see how big the win over Pakistan was for us you only have to look at what has happened since.

But on the other hand, nobody was saying before the game "this is a really important game for Ireland." Anything from that game was a bonus. We were always going to upset a test-playing nation some day, it just happened to be that day. On the other hand, coming up against Bangladesh in a major tournament at a time when Irish cricket is peaking was an opportunity that we might never get again. In the circumstances, with Ireland having their best players defect to England and calling to be made a full member to help prevent that, we simply had to get a result on Monday. You could certainly not say that about the game against Pakistan.
