A long tail perhaps, but I'm not sure if that would be a problem with that top-6. They can bang each other over the heads to select a wicket-keeper and a captain, there's more than enough of them in the line-up.
    Wicketkeepers much?

    Pretty average picks really.
Steyn's a very good T20 bowler. His T20i record is exceptional. 14 wickets at 13.42 at an economy rate of 6.71. Can't argue with those stats.

Yuvraj is a very good T20 player. In T20i's he has an average of over 30 and a strike rate of 171, and he offers his golden arm with the ball. I don't see what's wrong with his selection.

As for Van Der Merwe. I wanted a spinning all-rounder at 7, as spin plays a key role in T20, and there aren't many better than Roelof atm. Strike rate of 130 in T20 games and a superb record with the ball, averaging in the teens with an economy of just over 7.

Who would you have picked ahead of those 3? Let me guess. Taylor, Oram and Butler?

I keep it to players who are playing now.

    G Gambhir
    C Gayle
    S Raina
    Y Singh
    AB De Villiers
    K Sangakkara (WK)
    A Morkel
    L Malinga
    D Vettori (C)
    U Gul
    A Mendis

Guys unlucky to be missing out

McCullum - Preferred a batsman who could hold the innings together as the team has enough fire power already

Symonds - Lost out to AB

Murali - Lost out to Mendis

EDIT: Dilshan instead of Gambhir would make the team better.

Interesting line up. On present form I certainly didn't think either Bopara, Gibbs or Morkel would feature. No Steyn, Botha, van der Merwe, or even maybe (the unthinkable ) Kallis?

Based on current form for those available in internationals...

    1. Chris Gayle
    2. Rohit Sharma
    3. Jacques Kallis
    4. Yuvraj Singh
    5. AB De Villiers
    6. MS Dhoni (capt + wk)
    7. Roelof van der Merwe
    8. Zaheer Khan
    9. Ajantha Mendis
    10. Dale Steyn
    11. Saeed Ajmal

Tail is a bit long, but you can't have it all, I guess.
The speed at which a fielding team gets through the innings is overrated.

Would like to fit Yusuf in there somewhere.

Think he deserves the flick after tonight's performance.

I think this is closest to what I'd pick. Stick Gayle in in place of KP and probably Yuvraj in place of Duminy. No Indians in your lineup, interestingly.

Yeh definitely agree there. KP has hardly done anything good in this format. Would rather see Gayle in there any day.
