he basically annouced last year when all these rumours of getting out of the ICL came about he said that he now had a new life and had pretty much given up hope of playing for new zealand. We must remember that he is a fast bowler, prone to injuries with a young family and well into his thirties.

And who has just collected a big fat paycheck and who still wants to play ODIs...

It would be nice, but I admit its unlikely.

Depends whether we want to win or develop. We could take the piss and send the ex U-19s playing FC cricket, would back a few to cause damage too. They would lose heavily overall of course...

Full strength side

Ryder
McCullum
Guptill
Taylor
Broom
Oram
N. McCullum
Vettori
Mills
Butler
O'Brien

Elliott
Thompson (he got smashed in an ODI but still...:p)
Patel (think McCullum is the better 20/20 player, but for normal cricket Patel is better)
Some batsman, probably Pinga...kidding, kidding, ummm Cumming? Kidding....I'll just go Styris.

Not going to happen of course, Smits will probably play as a specialist keeper, batting at #10 or #11.

Also my preferred seam line-up would be Jonkman-Bukhari-Nannes-Schiferli-RTD, but we need some "quality" spin (as in, Botha-type death knell control between overs 10-16), so Kashif should get a mention.

For some reason I forgot the keeper and Nannes. Oops.

beauty of t20 is that an 8th ranked team can beat the no 1 comfortably -i dont think there are any favorites in the tournament.it will be fun provided the weather holds up.

Maybe Broad for Napier. Prior/Davies/whoever. For the sake of continuity pick the same guy for ODIs and T20 and give the gig to whoever is the OD keeper.

Wright is ****, but there isnt a high calibre alternative (well there is but he 'retired') and when in doubt go for the aggressive option.

Strauss will be fine, especially is partnered with a player like Wright.

Why Asnodkar and Dhawan instead of Uthappa and Kohli?
