India's has been a curious case. Since 2007 WC, without having a coach for almost a year, and with so many captaincy changes, we hardly had a better period in International cricket in our history. The fact is, if your core team remains more or less the same, and the new ones work upto better form, captaincy issues really won't matter.

Yeah but if we didn't have such solid leadership (coach aside) we'd be even worse! Imagine that.
India were lucky that they had such a tight knit core of senior players (and former captains) in Dravid/Ganguly/Tendulkar/Kumble (lesser extent Sehwag/Laxman/Dhoni) to show the team the way. The fact that none of them are really arrogant big headed pricks goes a long way to helping that team core actually function well together as opposed to just a group of talented individuals.
