First ODI called off

The first ODI of the Unitech Cup tri-series, between Sri Lanka and South Africa, has been called off, in the wake of yesterday’s blast in Colombo. The match wasn’t played yesterday because of heavy rain that soaked the ground, and was rescheduled for today.

A powerful bomb explosion had rocked the city yesterday, just 1.6 km from the hotels the players have been put up at, following which, the South African and Indian teams are looking to leave the island country as soon as approved by their respective boards.

According to Sri Lankan officials though, if the visiting teams stay back in the country, this particular match will be replayed at a later date. However, for today, it has definitely been cancelled.
