England announce Twenty20 squad

The English selection panel have announced their 30 man preliminary squad for the Twenty20 Championships that will take place in South Africa in September.

Marcus Trescothick has taken his first step towards returning to international cricket and is likely to feature in the condensed squad that will be announced at a later date. There are just two uncapped players in the squad as young all rounder Luke Wright and Essex captain Mark Pettini are rewarded for good seasons.

There was no room for winter tourists Sajid Mahmood, Ed Joyce, Jamie Dalrymple or Darren Gough who have all fallen from favour with the selectors.

Preliminary 30 man squad: James Anderson, Ian Bell, Ravi Bopara, Tim Bresnan, Stuart Broad, Glen Chapple, Paul Collingwood, Alastair Cook, Andrew Flintoff, James Kirtley, Jon Lewis, Mal Loye, Darren Maddy, Dimitri Mascarenhas, Paul Nixon, Monty Panesar, Mark Pettini, Kevin Pietersen, Liam Plunkett, Matt Prior, Chris Schofield, Owais Shah, Ryan Sidebottom, Jeremy Snape, Vikram Solanki, Chris Tremlett, Marcus Trescothick, Jonathon Trott, Luke Wright, Michael Yardy
