Sunday League Cricket This game is shareware, i.e. if you use it for more than a 14 day trial period you should register it. How to Play View Squad This option lets you view your entire first team squad, showing their batting, bowling, fielding and fitness ratings. The players in light blue are in your team. To select/deselect a player, use the arrow keys to select the player, and use the space-bar. You can not have more than 30 players in your squad. If you have 11 players selected, you can use the T button to view those 11 players. Escape quits back to the main menu, but this can only happen when you have 11 players selected. View Fixtures This screen shows the fixtures for the current week. Using the up and down arrow keys, you can view other weeks fixtures. Escape quits back to the main menu. Play The most important part of the game! The results of all the games will be displayed, in the order that they are on the fixture list. When your game comes up, a list of the two teams will be shown. Your team will be the 11 players selected on the view squad screen. As in a normal cricket match, a coin will be tossed after you have chosen heads or tails. If you win, you can decide whether to bat first, or field first, otherwise the other captain will choose. Batting A list of your team is show, in no particular order. You must use the cursor keys, and return to choose your two openers. At the begining of every over, you are given the option of whether to play defensively, normally or agressively, but using the left and right cursor keys and return. The current bowlers, the score, and number of overs bowled are shown at the bottom of the screen, as is the target if you are batting second. If a batsman is out, you will have to choose a replacement in the same method as you chose the openers. At the end of the innings, the other teams bowling figures are shown. Bowling As in the batting section, a list of your team is shown, next to their current bowling figures. Use the cursor keys and return to decide which bowler to use each over. The last batsman, and two current batsmen are shown, with their scores, as is the total, and target if it applies. At the end of the match, you are informed of the result, but be warned of rained off matches! View Table This shows the current league table, following the Sunday League rules of 4 points for a win, and 2 for a tie or no-result. Teams which have the same number of points are then separated by number of wins, then run-rate. View Averages This option shows the batting, and bowling averages of each of your players, since you started. View Wages This option shows how much you are paying each player each week. There is a salary cap of £10,000. It also shows the number of years which their contracts have to run before you have to renegotiate their salary. Load (Not available in the shareware version) Load a previously saved game. You must know what the filename of the game is. You can include a path, but no extensions. Save (Not available in the shareware version) Saves your current game. The filename can include a path, but no extensions such as "C:\SAVES\SL1". If no path is included it will be stored in the directory you have got the game in. Quit Exits the game, without saving your current position. Youth Players If a player in your counties youth/reserve team is playing well, you will be informed directly after a game, being told his batting, bowling and fielding stats. You will then be given the option to engage him. Contracts At the end of each season, some of your players' contracts will have run out. This will give you an opportunity to release any player who is not figuring in your first team plans, but more importantly to ensure that your important players stay at the club. You will be informed of each player whose contract has run out with the club, and you will be asked if you want to re-engage them. If you do, then their current wage will be shown. The player will probably want a pay increase. You can give three offers to the player. Better players will want more money, as they will have offers from other counties. Once a player accepts an offer, he will be on that wage for the next three seasons. If he declines all three offers, he will leave for another county. Other Counties will release players at the end of the season, and you will be given an opportunity to engage them. A list of players and their stats will be displayed as well as the wage they want, and all you have to do is use the cursor keys, and press return on them, and they will join your staff for that wage.
