Derbyshire name new chairman

Derbyshire has elected local businessman Don Amott, as the new chairman of the county’s cricket club.

Amott, a dealer in caravans and motor homes, replaces Trevor Bowring, under whom the club suffered severe financial losses, as high as around 80,000 pounds, for the last financial year.

Derbyshire CCC chief executive, Tom Sears said, “To have someone with success in a business environment can only be good for the club. We hope he will bring his experience and contacts with him.”

Derbyshire’s performances on the field too have been nothing to be proud of, with hardly any wins in the County Championship in the last two years.
