Cumming replaces McMillan

State Otago Volts batsman Craig Cumming has accepted the offer of a New Zealand Cricket contract for the 2007/08 season.

Cumming, 32, has played seven Tests and 12 ODIs to date for the Black Caps and made 5694 first-class runs at an average of 34.30 since his debut for Canterbury in 1996.

“Craig comes into the pool of contracted players after Craig McMillan?s retirement,” said Black Capsgeneral manager Lindsay Crocker.

“Craig was one of the unlucky ones when the first 20 contractors were announced, so we are delighted to be able to include him at this time.”

Cumming is currently on tour in South Africa with the Black Caps.
