Buchanan to remain until 2007

John Buchanan has had his contract extended until the 2007 World Cup after convincing himself that he has a future in the role.

Buchanan has been the Australian coach since 1999 when he replaced Geoff Marsh. He immediately went on to record a 16 test winning streak along with securing the World in 2003 along with many other fantastic achievements, including a series victory over India in the sub continent.

The review committee consisting of Allan Border, Mark Taylor and Cricket Australian CEO James Sutherland who over-saw Buchanan during the forth and fifth Ashes tests will decide whether a team of specialist coaches should be given to Buchanan. A decision on this will be released in a Cricket Australian board meeting in December.
