Chanders to lead Guyana

After former West Indies captain, Carl Hooper failed to express his availablilty, Chanderpaul has been named captain of Guyana for their 2003 Red Stripe Bowl campaign. The move was somewhat unexpected as many thought that current West Indies vice-captain and apparent heir to the captaincy, Ramnaresh Sarwan would get the nod for the Guyana job.
The squad will include some experience in the form of Neil McGarrell and Mahendra Nagamootoo (among others) as well as the rookie factors, Krishna Arjune and Ryan Ramdass.
Noticeable omissions are those of Reon King and Colin Stuart, former West Indies pacers.
