Robin Smith to retire?

Former England player, Robin Smith is expected by many to retire at the end of the current English season. The thought of retirement come on the heels of Smith's recent hamstring tear which he sustained while playing for Hampshire. The injury will keep him out of cricket for three (3) weeks, but he has still expressed that he hopes to play against Gloucestershire in his county's final National League game of the season. The game will be played on the 21st of September.

Smith, 40 on September 13th, has had a long and distinguished career both at domestic and international level.

For England, he played 62 Tests for 4235 runs (43.67 average) and 71 ODI's for 2419 runs (39.01). Over his career for Hampshire Smith has scored 18,984 runs with 49 FC hundreds in 307 games. Smith has 61 FC hundreds in his 22-year FC career. He retired from international cricket in 1996.
