The other big news is that Shane Bond will miss the entire tour of India aswell as the ODI series against Pakistan.
Chris Cairns will also miss the test series due to the expected birth of his second child, Cairns will however be available for the ODI's that follow.
Nathan Astle returns from injury and is also joined by Craig McMillan after he was dropped for the Sri Lankan tour.
Test Squad:
Stephen Fleming (c), Nathan Astle, Ian Butler, Robbie Hart, Richard Jones, Michael Mason, Craig McMillan, Jacob Oram, Mark Richardson, Scott Styris, Daryl Tuffey, Daniel Vettori, Lou Vincent, Paul Wiseman.
The selectors have opted to drop Matt Horne & Matt Sinclair with the return of Astle & McMillan. New cap Michael Mason will fly out early to have 2 weeks bowling training at the MRF clinic in Chennai.
Richard Jones retains his spot despite not being overally impressive in warmup games during the Sri Lankan tour.

The most noted absentee here is Andre Adams who at his expense is replaced by Paul Hitchcock.
