Derbyshire v Northamptonshire

Michael Di Venuto was the hero here today as he smashed Derbyshire to a 3 wicket win over Northamptonshire with 130 from 104 balls. He was exceptionally harsh on Carl Greenidge, who was hit for 75 runs in only 8 overs.

Earlier, Mike Hussey had scored 103 from 130 balls, but with only support from Mark Powell, the score of 251-5 looked a bit short, and so it proved.

NORTHAMPTONSHIRE 251-5 (Hussey 103, Powell 70, Dumelow 2-59)
DERBYSHIRE 254-7 (Di Venuto 130, Bassano 41, Nel 3-33, Greenidge 2-75)

Durham v Hampshire

England stars Steve Harmison, on his return from a slight injury, and Paul Collingwood, continuing his recovery from a major one, were the mainstay of their easy win here. Harmison picked up 3 top order wickets and bowled well, whilst Collingwood bowled 7 overs for only 17 runs, and scored a rapid 48.

Graeme Bridge was the other hero with the ball, as he removed the tail in an effort which saw the highest stand being one of 30 for the last wicket between Chaminda Vaas and Alan Mullally.

In reply, Durham were never in trouble, and opener Nicky Peng scored an unbeaten half century as they reached the target with nearly 20 overs to spare.

HAMPSHIRE 131 (Bridge 4-20, Harmison 3-31, Plunkett 2-36)
DURHAM 132-3 (Peng 56*, Collingwood 48, Vaas 2-24)

Nottinghamshire v Sussex

After Robin Martin-Jenkins picked up the first 4 wickets, Nottinghamshire slumped to 125-5. They didn't lose another wicket as Chris Read, with 79 from 73 balls with 8 fours and 2 sixes, and Chris Cairns with 91 from 72 balls with 4 fours and 5 sixes, hammered 167 runs in only 67 minutes.

Several men got a start in reply, but nobody went on, and Sussex were never in the hunt as Nottinghamshire bowled well enough to force the win.

NOTTINGHAMSHIRE 292-5 (Cairns 91*, Read 79*, Martin-Jenkins 4-50)
SUSSEX 221 (Zuiderent 47, Cairns 3-48, Lucas 3-52, Logan 2-36)
