Morton cleared to play

Wednesday, August 20 2003

West Indian all-rounder Runako Morton has been cleared to play in this year's Red Stripe Bowl. Morton has finished serving his one-year suspension which he received last year for breach of the WICB's code of conduct.

Morton returned home during the ICC Champions Trophy last year under the false excuse that his grandmother was ailing. It turned out that his AWOL was due to frustration at not getting a genuine opportunity in the West Indies team. He has previously been in trouble with the WICB after he was suspended and fined for poor conduct on the West Indies 'A' team tour of England last summer.

Morton has represented the West Indies in ODI cricket against Pakistan in 2002.
