Bribery Inquiry to Expand

Sunday, November 23 2003

The Maharashtra Cricket Association has urged the BCCI to widen it's probe into the bribery scandal surrounding Abhijit Kale and two Indian selectors.

Kale, who now has been accused of bribing Kiran More and Pranab Roy for a spot in the India squad is increasingly under fire as he cannot play for Maharashtra.

Now both More and Roy, are also under scrutiny and a distinct amount of pressure from the Maharashtra Cricket Association. The MCA claims that the buck stops with the selectors, and not just Abhijit Kale.

MCA Chairman, Balasaheb Thorve quoted, "Merely conducting an inquiry against Kale would not suffice as it is also necessary to find out whether there was any substance in the allegations made by the selectors that Kale had offered them bribe."

We will have more news on this story as it becomes available.
