De Silva Appointed Selector

Legendary Sri Lankan batsman Aravinda De Silva was appointed national selector of Sri Lanka today, just days after his retirement from International Cricket.

Aravinda who currently is the highest run getter for Sri Lanka in tests and ODI's was appointed selector, along with former leg spinner Lalith Kaluperuma and former manager Jayantha Paranathala.

The trio were appointed by the National Sports Minister in Sri Lanka to head the selection commitee. Former Sri Lankan wicketkeeper Guy de Alwis will head the selection comittee as chairman, and Roger Wijesuriya will also be a member of the selection panel.
