NZ lose appeal

Thursday, February 20 2003

New Zealand have lost their appeal to move their match against Kenya, to South Africa amid safety concerns in the region. As a result, Kenya will take the 4 points but were willing to play the New Zealand cricket team. The ICC felt that Kenya is safe to play cricket.

Kenya Cricket Association's chairman, Jimmy Rayani had mixed feelings on the result. He was happy that Kenya now have a chance of making the super six, however he is sorry for the fans who will not get to see some good cricket played in Kenya.

New Zealand may face a multi-million dollar compensation claim, and may not make it to the super six as a result.
