Day 2 - Carib Cup Update

Barbados took first innings points against Trinidad and Tobago today in Bridgetown. With a boisterous innings of 137 by Philo Wallace, the home team reached 288/7 at the close. For Wallace, it was his 9th regional century and his 12th in FC cricket. It was Wallace’s second century of the season, along with his 140 against the same opposition earlier this season.

With 13 fours and 5 sixes, the Bajan opener put the T&T attack to sword and brought up his hundred with two sixes off off-spinner Sooklal. Sooklal would eventually dismiss his abuser however, with a mistimed long hop. Wallace was dropped twice earlier in his innings, on 10 and 107. Barbados captain, Courtney Browne added 115 with Wallace and scored a stroke-filled 67.

Earlier, Trinidad and Tobago were dismissed with the addition of just 8 runs to their overnight total of 250/9. Collymore finished off with his 5th wicket of the innings and his 95 FC wicket.

Barbados (1st Innings):- 288-7 (Philo Wallace 137, Courtney Browne 67, Ryan Hinds 26; Rodney Sooklal 4-82, Mervyn Dillon 3-67)
In Guyana, Jamaica continued to dominate the home team attack. Dave Bernard Jr. resumed his innings on 64 not out and proceeded comfortably, but quietly to his first century of the season- 109. His overnight partner, Breese also progressed slowly and was eventually dismissed by left-arm spinner McGarell for 79. Captain Robert Samuels scored 55 as his team eventually closed their innings at 486/7 declared.

In response, Guyana was positive to the close, ending on 39/0. Azeemul Haniff has 15 and former youth batsman Krishna Arjune is on 13.
