Lawson's action cleared

Sunday, April 18 2004

Windies paceman Germaine Lawson has been cleared return to international cricket, as his new action has been declared legal by the West Indies cricket board.

Lawson was reported of having an illegal action last May during the fourth test against Australia in Antigua where he had career-best figures of 78/7.

A review group, which saw his action in a video-tape of last month's match between Vice-Chancellor's XI and England, cleared his new action.

West Indies cricket board in a statement issued yesterday praised the effort and commitment demonstrated by Lawson, as well as his coaches, who helped in clarifying his action.

Lawson has captured 29 wickets in 7 Tests, as well as 9 wickets in One-Day Internationals.
