All-rounder Sammy named in WI squad

West Indies have named Darren Sammy, a 20-year old all-rounder from St. Lucia, in their 15-member squad for the One-Day International tournament - The NatWest Series - to be played in England between them, the hosts and New Zealand.

Sammy, the first St. Lucian to be picked in a West Indies squad, is the only un-capped player in the team.

Wicket-keeper Carlton Baugh has been re-called to the squad, as a back-up to Ridley Jacobs.

Mervyn Dillon and Corey Collymore, who didn't play in the just concluded series against Bangladesh at home, have again been excluded, whereas Sylvester Joseph, who did feature in the series, has been left out.

Brian Lara (captain), Ramnaresh Sarwan, Chris Gayle, Devon Smith, Ricardo Powell, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Dwayne Smith, Dwayne Bravo, Darren Sammy, Ridley Jacobs (wicket-keeper), Carlton Baugh (wicket-keeper), Ian Bradshaw, Tino Best, Fidel Edwards, Ravi Rampaul.
