Weston & Spearman lead the way

Saturday, May 1 2004

Day 3 of the Division 1 games only saw any play at Edgbaston, where Gloucestershire reached 314 for 4 against Warwickshire. Phil Weston hit a fine 122 after Craig Spearman had kicked off the innings with an aggressive 77. Tim Hancock (44) and Matt Windows (48) also made useful contributions. Pretorius was the most successful bowler, with 2 for 57. Given decent weather and a couple of forfeited innings, and the final day could see an exciting run chase for the home side.

Elsewhere, things were far too wet for any play to be possible. Surrey have not been able to add to their Day 1 score of 163 for 2 against Northants, and no cricket has been possible at Worcestershire where the low-lying ground has been flooded. Anyone for synchronised swimming?
