Brett Lee to train in India

Monday, July 12 2004

Australian fast bowler Brett Lee will travel to Chennai to train at the MRF Pace Foundation to familiarize with bowling conditions in Indian conditions in August. Lee will train with former Australian fast bowler Dennis Lillee and former Indian fast bowler Javagal Srinath.

Lee, 27, may head over to England after his training stint in India to have a short stint of County Cricket; he has contract offers from English County sides Middlesex and Surrey.

Lee injured his ankle in Australia’s tour of Sri Lanka in February and March which forced him home to under go surgery. Lee had a brief bowling spell in the nets in Cairns in the lead up to Australia’s Test match against Sri Lanka.

Queenslander Michael Kasprowicz has had a successful return back to Test cricket taking 7-39 against Sri Lanka in Darwin last week, and took 12 wickets in Australia’s 3-0 win over Sri Lanka four months ago.

Lee was selected in Australia’s provisional 30 man squad for the ICC Champions Trophy to be held in England in September, but is not likely to be included in Australia’s squad for the ICC Champions Trophy.
