Tuffey to Miss Dead Rubber

Friday, January 16 2004

With New Zealand already holding a comfortable 3-1 lead in a best of 5 match series, selectors have elected to rest Daryl Tuffey and his troublesome knees for the dead rubber 5th match.

Tuffey has been suffering swelling in his knee tendons this summer, and with little or no relevance in this game other than pride, Black Cap selectors took the safe option.

The decision marks Andre Adams' return to the international fold following an impressive season of domestic cricket for Auckland.

Meanwhile, Kyle Mills was reported to the match referee following the 4th ODI for excessive appealing.
